A COMMUNITY litter pick, involving a new youth group, will take place on Ledbury's Recreation Ground and along the town trail section called the Line Bank.

A new church youth club for eleven to 14 year olds has been set up recently by the Revd Tony Hodder of St Michael and All Angels Church.

This will join forces with the Love Ledbury group for the litter pick, on Saturday August 16.

Anyone wishing to help should meet at the church at 1.30pm, collect the litter picking gear.

The event will run until 16:30 when bacon rolls, refreshments and cake will be served for all participants in the Walled Garden next to the church.

Tony Hodder said "the young people are keen to help to tidy up the areas of the town they play in and enjoy. We're happy to support Love Ledbury and its community action as a way of giving something back.'

Cllr Liz Harvey said, 'We're very grateful to the Helping Hand Company, based on the Bromyard Road, for providing the litter picking equipment .

"Thanks go also to Balfour Beatty, which have offered to take away all the rubbish we collect. There's a lot of littering happening on our recreation ground and green spaces. We're looking forward to working alongside the young people of the town to make them look tidy again for us all to enjoy."
