Christmas Volunteers Needed in Ledbury

First published in News by

VOLUNTEERS are being sought again for this year's Cards for Good Causes Shop, in Ledbury.

Last year, the "pop-up shop" was based in the Heritage Centre, and in previous years, the parish church.

Cards for Good Causes sells cards for around 300 charities through a national network of pop-up shops. Volunteers are vital to help them run smoothly and ensure that the charities gain as much benefit as possible from sales.

Volunteer Coordinator, Dianne Jarrett says: “Christmas cards are an important source of funding for charities and volunteers are key to maximising the amount of money each receives from their sales in our pop-up shops.”

“Many volunteers return year after year but we always need more. If you can spare some time between October and December and are interested in doing something really worthwhile, why not volunteer in your local shop? You’ll be joining around 6,500 other like-minded people who are all committed to helping charities benefit as much as possible from the sale of their cards.”

The pop-up shops are coordinated by a manager and open in a variety of premises, including churches, museums, tourist information centres, libraries, community centres and within other retail organisations. They usually open in the six to eight weeks before Christmas.

In the past five years, charities have received more than £20 million from Cards for Good Causes - representing at least 70p in every pound out of which charities had to pay for the production and distribution of their Christmas cards and any VAT.
