HADFA'S 18th Annual Show held recently proved to be a great success - despite very heavy showers in the morning, the afternoon sun shone on the many visitors who came to view the exhibits. The British Fuchsia Society judge, Mr Geoff Oke, complimented the association on the quality of the entries because although we've been enjoying this glorious summer, fuchsias do not like the intense heat - they tend to wilt and drop their buds.

Cups and trophies were fairly evenly distributed with Norman Farr winning the most. Christine Hill won the Baches Bargains Shield for the Best Standard in the show and also the Chairman's Trophy for the Best in Show. Norman Farr and John Mayers jointly had the overall highest numbers of points in show for the men and Audrey Mayers highest number of points in show for the women.

The Colour-a-Fuchsia Competition sponsored by Country Gardens, Wellington was won by Wellington Primary School, second was Trinity Primary School and St Paul's, Tupsley was in third place.

The Country Gardens Cup will be presented to the winning school some time in September.
