AN intricate 18th century replica dress made by two Herefordshire volunteers is on show at Hampton Court Castle.
Gail Thornley and Pamela James Moore, from Hereford's NADFAS (National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Society), were asked to create the piece for the castle, at Hope-under-Dinmore.
They received assistance and advice from Berrington Hall's costume curator Althea Mackenzie and the crimson dress can be viewed in the castle's dining room.
Mrs Thornley said that although the project was "quite hard work", it was great fun to be involved with.
The Hereford NADFAS group has lectures once a month from October to June at the Whitecross Operatic Hall.
As well as textile volunteers – some are making curtains and a bedspread in crewel work for the Old House in High Town – the society has a church recording croup.
There are also regular visits to art galleries and museums.
