A ROSS-on-Wye councillor has been chosen as the Conservative parliamentary candidate for Wrexham.
Andrew Atkinson said he will remain as a Ross councillor up until the election in May, but he could not pass the opportunity of representing his home town.
"Wrexham is my home town and I want to stand for it," said Cllr Atkinson.
"It has a lot going for it, but there are also a lot of issues as well.
"I was asked to stand and I have gone through the process."
Cllr Atkinson moved to Ross five years ago and settled with his wife Anwen and children Jacob, five, and Noah, three.
He said that he is proud of what he has achieved in the town.
