MOVE OVER Glasgow, the Dymock Gardeners' Club is planning to run its own Commonwealth Games.
Extra care will be taken with thistles and roses, as members may arrive in Scottish or Commonwealth dress, but track and field events will certainly not feature.
Instead, the green-fingered competitors will challenge each other for the longest runner bean, the best box of mixed vegetables and the finest flower arrangement.
The heaviest tomato will also win prizes, as will the prettiest textile with a Commonwealth link and the best painting or drawing with a Commonwealth theme.
The event will lead with the crowning of Dymock's own Commonwealth Champion, - the gardener with the most points.
The unusual gathering will take place on Thursday September 4,from 7.30pm, in the Parish Hall, and there will be "nibbles, tea and coffee".
