BLOOMING great fun at Lynhales.

Residents, relatives, friends and staff had great fun at Lynhales Hall nursing home on Sunday afternoon - and all in a good cause.

Lynhales was hosting a blooming great tea party in support of Marie Curie Cancer Care - and raised a whopping £472 to be split between that worthy cause and its residents' activities fund.

Visitors were treated to afternoon tea with home-made scones or strawberries and cream, and were able to spend a relaxing time in the sunshine with their loved ones. In addition to the ever popular raffle, attractions also included guess the number of tea bags in the teapot, the number of sweeties in the jar, and a number of stalls of produce for sale including cakes, greetings cards, jewellery, handbags and scarves.

Meg Fallon, manager of Lynhales, said "Thank you to everyone who supported this event - whether through the donation of raffle prizes, purchasing raffle tickets or coming along and donating on the day. We were lucky to have a warm and sunny day, and most residents were able to come outside and join in the fun."

She added, "We are indebted to a few local businesses who generously supported us and helped to make the event such a success. They are, S & A Davies for donating all of the strawberries and Compressors & Washers Hereford - for the loan of the marquee, providing some essential shade. And, of course, we are indebted to our own kitchen and housekeeping staff who really worked their socks off to make sure the event ran smoothly. The Lynhales Hall staff choir rounded off a fantastic afternoon with a performance of some of their favourite songs".
