THE view of Ross-on-Wye has impressed many visitors since the late 18th Century when William Gilpin's book was published.

Observations on the River Wye featured many of Mr Gilpin's reflections and captured the river in all of its beauty.

And now it seems that it has caught the imagination of a British tenor.

Paul Potts, who was the inaugural winner of television show Britain's Got Talent in 2007, shared two pictures of Ross-on-Wye to his 28,000 Twitter followers that he took during the past week.

Both were taken off the A40, which Paul says he occasionally drives along.

"I always wondered whether the bridge has a path on it so I could safely take a photo," he said.
