A LOCAL business is receiving well-deserved plaudits for supporting rugby and netball teams at Newent school.

Chicken processing and agricultural firm, Cargills, is sponsoring the teams at Picklenash Junior School.

After receiving a donation of £1000 from Cargills the school purchased full kits for both the rugby and the netball teams.

A school spokesman said: "Local companies such as Cargills, in sponsoring such teams can only be applauded for their help in developing local sporting talent."
