A MAN who posed as a workman to gain entry to a property stole £1,000 from an elderly woman, it is alleged.
Police were called to a property on Hampton Street, Hereford, at around 10.50am on Tuesday July 15 to reports of a theft.
The woman told police that a man had approached her address saying he was working on the street and asked to do some work on her roof tiles.
She let him into the property and gave him £40 before leaving him alone in a room while she went to get him a glass of water.
She then realised the money had been taken from a drawer in her dining room, which was in a green wallet.
Police said she was left "very distressed" following the incident.
The man is described as white, around 40, wearing black trousers, a white t-shirt and possibly a blue waterproof jacket.
He may have also had a moustache.
Anyone with information can call police on 101.
