ROSS Rotary Club - handover dinner.
Over 40 members and guests attended this year's handover dinner held at The Old Court Hotel in Whitchurch on June 30, where outgoing president Janet Bastock handed over the presidency of Ross Rotary Club to Tina Atkins.
Among the guests were, assistant district governor Alan Hudson and his wife Anne and the president of Ross Lions Richard Ball and his wife Pauline.
Representing the past year's president's charity were Sue Trevethan CEO/founder of Hope Support Services and Clare Thomas operations manager, to whom Janet had great pleasure in presenting a cheque for £2,600.
This year's president's charity is Marches Family Network and was represented by Vicky Nicholson-James and Kerry-Jane Williams.
Janet spoke of the highlights of her year mentioning Hope Support Services, working with Ross Lions on the successful beer and cider festival, the children's literacy project, and the Rotary exchange trip to Odal Norway.
Janet then removed the chain of office and placed it on incoming president Tina Atkins who subsequently invested Behrokh Behroozi-Toossi as president elect, Adrian Toon as president nominee and Philip Dazely as secretary. Tina talked of her aspirations for her time in office and looked to increase membership of the club by encouraging recruitment of new and younger members from the wider community under the banner of "Light Up Rotary". She also spoke of events planned for the coming year, which include a second model railway exhibition at JKHS in August and hopefully a further beer and cider festival in May. One of Tina's first activities was to present a 25 year long service award to rotarian George Pendlebury.
Assistant governor Alan Hudson congratulated Tina on becoming president of Ross Rotary Club and offered his services both as a conduit to district and provision of practical day to day support.
