AFTER a sixteen-year break, the Presteigne Carnival is back.

Next Saturday (July 19) the Carnival returns with a day of live music, family fun and the Paws For Thought dog display team, of Britain’s Got Talent fame.

Organiser Beverley Baynham said: “ A small committee was formed in January and we have resurrected the carnival after a period of 16 years.

“So it’s going to be quite an achievement.

“It’s going to be a fun afternoon with bouncy castle, hook a duck, crazy golf, bucking sheep, children’s football tournament, horticultural section.”

Starting at an noon with fancy dress and floats to be judged at John Beddoes, the procession will wind its way to Wents Meadow via Hereford Street and the High Street.

The carnival itself will be opened on the meadow at 1.30pm, with live music, a football tournament and the crowning of the Carnival Queen.

From 5.30pm onwards live music will be rocking the Dome, featuring local musicians Katie Green, The Hollows and Dave Luke and Friends.

There will be food and a licensed bar and cash prizes of up to £50 for the most impressive float.

Entrance is free to float competitors, anyone in fancy dress and children – adults entry costs £2.50.
