A WOMAN broke her ankle after falling on a steep hill near Ledbury this morning.
Ambulance and fire crews were called to Midsummer Hill near Eastnor at 9.25am, where the woman — who is in her fifties — fell while walking her dogs.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “To get to the woman, ambulance staff had to walk across a steep field, through thorns and stinging nettles.
“She had broken her ankle and was in a lot of pain. A splint was applied and pain relief was administered.
“If getting to her was difficult, getting her out was going to be even harder. Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service was called in to help.
“With the use of their rescue stretcher and buggy, she was taken to the land ambulance and transported to Hereford County Hospital.”
An advanced community paramedic in a rapid response vehicle also attended.
