HEREFORD High Town’s much-loved Thai street chef Pimploy Scott was given glowing reviews by Thai royalty for her charity work at the Dorchester Hotel in London last month.
The ‘Pim’s Kitchen’ chef, who has lived in the city for 14 years, was recognised by Princess Chulabhorn for her tireless volunteer work, and for how she has represented her country abroad.
Mrs Scott went to London with husband Ian and their two daughters to collect the award in front of hundreds of people at the prestigious hotel.
Born in north-east Thailand, Mrs Scott, 43, married tattooist Ian and they set up the popular local restaurant Thai on Wye.
Ian said: “I was very proud.
“She is tireless in her volunteer work and represents Thailand so well in what she does.”
While better-known for her culinary skills – Mrs Scott’s intricately carved watermelons have become hugely popular at weddings – she is also very active at the Thai Temple in Birmingham, involving herself in its community projects.
Part of a growing Thai community in Hereford, the Scotts have helped organised several Thai Evenings in the city.
