TWO Herefordshire care homes are opening its doors today.

People can have a look around Waverley House in Leominster from 9.30pm to 4.30pm, while Woodside Resource Centre in Ross-on-Wye will also be opening its doors.

Waverley House offers a range of specialist nursing and residential care services for residents, including care for people with dementia.

Woodside is a purpose-built care centre, providing 15 day care places seven days a week.

It encourages people to regain some of the skills they may have lost through illness or early stage dementia, hyelping people to stay independent for longer.

Both care centres are owned by Shaw healthcare.

The events coincide with National Care Home Open Day.

"All of us at Waverley House are really looking forward to welcoming ots of visitors and I'm excited to have an opportunity to show people some of the fantastic work we do," said Alan Riley, manager at Waverley House.

"Many people still ahve misconceptions about care homes and opening our doors to the local community is a great way to change people's minds."
