A HEREFORD pub could be converted into a house.

Paul Bannister has submitted plans for the change of use at the Cotterell Arms.

The Whitecross pub was run by Gill Kirby and her late husband Noel for 25 years and was popular for holding darts competitions.

Darts professional Jim Williams took part in the farewell competition in March, which was also supported by Terry Jenkins' son Graham.

Mr and Mrs Kirby ran the pub from 1988, but Noel died suddenly last year, aged 59.

Mrs Kirby left the venue in April.

Meanwhile, a Much Cowarne pub that has been closed for three years could re-open if new plans are successful.

A proposal has been submitted to convert part of the restaurant at the Fir Tree Inn into a two-bedroom flat.

The planning statement sent to the council reports that the pub is currently not viable because it is very large for its location.

Therefore, the overall area of the pub would be reduced by around 30 per cent, but the two bars and skittle alley would be retained.

Representations on either application should be sent to Herefordshire Council by July 7.
