A NEW drop-in clinic has started in Knighton for those with hearing aids. The clinic will be held from 10.30am till 12.30pm on the second Tuesday of every month in Knighton Methodist church. The next clinic will be on July 8. Volunteers will be checking that hearing aids are working properly, changing tubing and batteries and giving advice on products and services. The clinic is run by Action on Hearing Loss, formerly known as the National Institute for the Deaf. The clinic in Knighton is funded by the Big Lottery and Powys Teaching Health Board.
In Powys there are already several hearing aid clinics including ones in Brecon, Crickhowell, Llanidloes, Newtown and Welshpool. In the near future Action on Hearing Loss are hoping to open new clinics in Llandrindod Wells, Builth Wells and Presteigne. If anyone would like to become a volunteer or for further information call 02920 333034.
