A HEREFORD care provider's new officers have been officially opened by MP Jesse Norman.

Kemble Care moved from Berrington Street to Holme Lacy Road in March to enable it to provide a care training base.

Mr Norman was taken on a tour of the site and met carers and their clients.

"We needed bigger training facilities, which Mr Norman saw," said Kathy De Mattia, registered manager at Kemble Care.

"There is a lot more space and disabled access.

"We were at Berrington House for 20 years, so it has been a big change, but everyone likes the new building.

"We hold monthly coffee mornings so people can come and and have a chat.

"It is really nice because we find some clients get to meet other clients who live near them and a good friendship is formed.

"There is a real fresh air about the place."

The provider recently launched free care guidance sessions for family carers in conjunction with Herefordshire Carers Support.

The one-to-one sessions are taught at people's home, with back care advice being provided.

"We're delighted to be working with Herefordshire Carers Support and helping unpaid family carers have access to free care guidance," added Ms De Mattia.

"Care guidance can help make a huge difference to their care roles by demonstrating techniques to prevent back strains as well as boost confidence with moving, medication and personal care.

"A healthy, confident carer greatly helps the well-being and happiness of the person needing the care."
