A HEREFORD school has received national recognition for the progress its students make in the build up to their GCSE's.
A report by the Department for Education puts Hereford Academy in the top 20 per cent of school's nationally for the development made by pupils between their Key Stage Two results at primary school and their GCSE results.
The academy, on Marlbrook Road in South Wye, received recognition of its work at a ceremony in Birmingham.
"The Hereford Academy should be congratulated for their exceptional achievement," said Sue Williamson, chief executive of SSAT, the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust.
"They have proved themselves to be leading the field in improving GCSE outcomes for their students.
"There is so much good practice that this school could share.
"These results are testament to the commitment and hard work of the students, teachers and leadership team at the Hereford Academy, and show what can be achieved when skilled teachers have high expectations and ambition for every young person."
