Hampton Court celebrates Glorious Summer centenary.

THE summer of 1914, before the outbreak of war, has gone down in many people's memories as one of sunshine and light-heartedness.

Hampton Court's garden fair, Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 June, aims to recapture the atmosphere of a country fete a hundred years ago, with bowling for the (toy) pig, traditional games and children's sports, songs, music and maypole dancing. And of course there will be a tea tent with home made cakes. A wide variety of stalls will be selling plants and things for the garden. Gates open at 10.30 am. Entry to gardens and festival: adults £7.50, seniors £6.50, children £3.75, family £20. Children under 5 free.
