A MEMBER of the public rescued a woman from the River Wye in Hereford last night.

A man, believed to be in the Forces, saw the woman in the water near the Old Bridge at around 7.20pm.

Police said that he helped to keep her above the water until they arrived and was able to throw them a life-ring attached to a rope.

Officers then pulled her out of the water and she was taken to Hereford County Hospital for injuries to her feet.
