HEREFORDSHIRE Council will restrict access to its Brockington HQ for the best part of a month.

Western Power Distribution starts work on Hafod Road, which leads to Brockington, on May 16.

With the work given a 23 day estimate, the council is making arrangements to restrict access to Brockington but, at this stage, all scheduled meetings are due to go ahead.

JSM Group are undertaking the work on behalf of Western Power as part of a project to reinforce the electricity supply to Hereford city centre.

JSM has scanned Hafod Road to investigate alternative methods of delivering the work but the only option is to lay the power cable in the centre of the carriageway - meaning a full closure.

Access to Hafod Road and Brockington will be restricted depending on the location of the works, with visitors to the council being encouraged to walk or cycle.

Subject to change, a diversion route will be in place and access to Brockington will be maintained with one or other entrance being restricted at any given time.

At present, the diversion route is Ledbury Road, Quarry Road and Hafod Road.

Access via Vineyard Road will be an alternative.
