ROSS-ON-WYE based Howle Hill Nursery led by Peter Dowle with team are nearing the end of a mammoth few weeks, working on projects at The Cheltenham jazz festival and last weekend at The Malvern spring garden show. In a different capacity than last year (where they were awarded a gold medal and best in show for their garden at Malvern) they have been working with the RHS, dressing the Cheltenham jazz festival and Malvern spring show with delightful displays of plants to fit both occasions and compliment the ambience of both events.

In the true spirit of a jazz festival, Dowle's display of dressed plants was complimented by local artist Lauren Delaney's colourful interpretation of a jazzy scene, with an impressive waterfall piano, tables made from old pallets and bright signs and banners covered with vinyls and sheet music - a real sense of the old being brought back to life for the special occasion. This display was so well received it has been recreated at Malvern as an extra display within the Severn Hall.

With an array of herbs from VHB and asparagus from local grower John Chinn of Cobrey Farms, the team have created a vintage scene in the live cookery tent, which will welcome celebrity chefs James Martin and Rachel Allen. Age-old terracotta pots have added immense character to the area for the three day show. Several indoor scenes, including two water features have added a real spark to the Severn Hall - all that is now needed is a bit of luck with the weather.
