Updated 1:40pm Friday 9th May 2014 in News
The Highways Agency will on Monday begin improvement work on the A49 in Hereford.
The work, scheduled to last two weeks, will take place between the junctions of Barton Road and Edgar Street.
It includes resurfacing both carriageways, upgrading the signalled crossing at Barton Road, replacing road markings, studs and traffic detection loops.
Bollards will also be relocated and replaced, and new paving will be laid on adjoining footpaths.
The work will be carried out overnight, from 10.15pm to 6.30am in three phases.
The first of which starts on Monday and will require an overnight closure of the northbound carriageway.
The second will see an overnight closure of the southbound lanes and the third will require temporary access restrictions to Barton Road and St Nicholas Street.
The start dates for the second and third phases will be publicised at a later date.
During the closures of the A49 Victoria Street, traffic will be diverted along Barton Road, Westfaling Street, the A4110 and A4103 Roman Road.
