ONE lucky pup has been hailed a “miracle dog” by its owner after cheating death when it became impaled on a metal pole.

Daniel Tyler, who has recently moved from Hereford to Ledbury, was out exploring Breinton Springs with his Staffordshire bull terrier, Bell, and friend Ryan Oldham.

Daniel said 15-month-old Bell had not been off the lead for long at Breinton when she darted out of sight.

His calls at the riverside location went unanswered before he found Bell at the bottom of landslide impaled on a rusty metal stake.

“I first thought she had broken her legs because when I called her name she couldn’t move,” explained Daniel.

“I had to slowly make my way down to her and as I got closer I saw the stake sticking out of her.

“I had the shock of my life.”

He added: “It was horrible, my dad came to pick us up in the car but I didn’t know what to do, so I carried her back with the stake still in her.

“I didn’t want to risk taking it out. It was heartbreaking and I really thought she was going to die.”

Daniel took Bell straight to Holmer Vets where staff immediately began to help the young dog.

He added: “When I left Bell at the vets overnight I thought that was the last time I would see her.

“But I then got a call the next day saying that we could go and pick her up.

“The staff were absolutely amazing, not only in the care they showed for us all but in actually saving Bell’s life.

“It came as a surprise for us all.

“It was a miracle – she cheated death.

“She is up and running around now and is doing so much better.”

Daniel said Bell is definitely part of the family and added that his daughter, Lacey-Mai, has a real bond with the pet.

“She would have been devastated had she died,”

he said.

“It’s a warning to others to keep their pets close to them.

“I’m just glad it didn’t happen to a child. It could have happened to anyone.”
