PLANS for a new fire station in Hereford will be on show at a ‘drop in’ event on Wednesday May 14.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service is looking to replace its current St Owen Street station, and will be showcasing its ideas ahead of a formal planning application.

Last month Herefordshire Council approved a land swap deal for the fire station’s current site, that would see the council’s Bath Street offices demolished and a new base built on the site.

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Authority has said a new Hereford fire station is a priority as the present station is not fit for present and future operations.

The fire service is now calling on residents to check out the proposals, ask any questions and give their views in order to help it form a final design.

The drop in will be at the Hereford fire station between 2pm and 8pm, with visitors asked to access the building via Daws Road.

Mmmm. That was quick.Almost like the plans were drawn up way before the issue of knocking down another Hereford landmark were talked about.

Were talked about in public, I think you mean. Yet another deal stitched up behind closed doors, with the ward councillor excluded and now a patronising attempt at public consultation, which we all know is merely a token gesture to satisfy the planning process.

Just another example of Herefordshire councils idea of democracy, shoot first and ask questions later, I agree with William Rudd and TWG it must have been a done deal to move this quickly, typical !
On a slightly different thread - take a walk down Plough Lane our beloved council have chopped down another healthy tree in their massive overhaul of the Hive, they are currently building a very expensive wall and walkway for the new entrance, I wonder if the wall is to keep out the thronging hordes of rate payers wanting to use their newly refurbished toilets?

Tell the Public what you are going to do - do it - then tell your adoring public what you have done for the benefit of them . Stinks - this Consulant Period costs money - for what - as has been said before - it's tablets of stone .
I have firm belief that nothing will change - the Authorities honestly believe that we are so lacking in intelligence that they can say anything which we , the masses will believe.
Think that they are in for a shock when we ( the retired of this City ) start sitting on the roof of the Working Boys Home prior to their apparent vandalism of the building. Never protested in my long life before but I am looking forward to this one - and my 15 minutes of fame , hopefully the weather is better than now. At my age I am not worried about employment , signing on or anything else other than me and Mrs Ubique - happy days.
