THE official opening of Presteigne and Norton Community support's Old Garage community re-use warehouse took place on Easter Saturday.

A large number of people gathered outside the garage to listen to the New Radnor band play a selection of popular music and to watch AM Kirsty Williams officially open the premises.

Everyone one was welcomed to the event by Gordon Ames chairman of the support project. Gordon thanked everyone who had helped them to clean up the garage and make it tidy for the opening.

He also introduced garage manager Chris Newton and invited everyone into the garage to look around and have a tea or coffee.

Before cutting the official opening ribbon Kirsty thanked Gordon and his colleges for inviting her and continued by saying: “There is lots going on in Presteigne this is a testimony to people of the town, that is one of the most vibrant market towns we have got.”

She continued by saying how the garage is a place that will help the environment and lots of people struggling on low wages who find it hard to furnish their own homes.
