HEREFORD'S artistic talent will be celebrated at parties raising funds for St Michael's Hospice.

Norma Blake is hoping to make £10,000 through the "Welcome to the Ford" parties throughout the year.

An official launch will be held at Fusion nightclub tomorrow (Friday) from 7.30pm.

Norma lost both of her parents to cancer, as well as many other close family members and friends, and is committed to raising as much as possible for the Herefordshire charity.

She said: "The hospice is a cause very close to my heart, as they provide support and compassionate care, enabling those with terminal conditions to live their final moments with dignity. I want to raise as much as possible to enable them to keep providing this wonderful service within our community.

"I also appreciate that times are difficult for charities and for families due to the economic situation - these events provide an inexpensive way of supporting this cause while also showcasing local talent and providing a great night of entertainment."

The second event of the year takes place at the Railway Club on June 20 and the third will be held at the Welsh Club on August 15.

Each will feature performances from talented local artists, including solo vocalists, duos, groups, dancers and prizes.

The showcases follow a similar event held last year which raised £3,000, but Norma has her sights set on raising closer to the £10,000 mark this time.

Tickets are priced at £5 each for the events and all proceeds will go to St Michael's Hospice.
