A LANDLADY has proved that a village pub can still thrive by celebrating 30 years in the business.

Jane Melvin has been running the New Inn at Pembridge since she bought it with the help of her father Peter.

She has had to survive two recessions, but Jane says that the support of villagers has helped to keep it going.

"Pembridge is a lovely, beautiful place and the pub is well supported by the local people," said Jane.

"We try and get involved with all local groups, like Pride in Pembridge and the British Legion, while the local hunt also meet here at Christmas.

"The pub is part of the community and we are very lucky to be supported by everyone."

Jane's sister Rosie completes the family affair.

She is a cook at the pub and has also spent 30 years at the venue.
