COUNTY MP Jesse Norman has named a family bakery as the best independent shop in Ross-on-Wye.
The Golden Crust in Broad Street was praised for its 'top quality cakes and breads' and 'consistently friendly service.'
"The Golden Crust is an outstanding example of the independent shops that form the backbone of the local economy and help to make Herefordshire special," said Mr Norman.
"I would encourage everyone to drop by all the winning shops and congratulate them on their achievement.”
DIY and homeware form Parkers in Gloucester Road was second, while village shop Woods of Whitchurch came third.
Mr Norman is now asking people to nominate their favourite place to eat in HR9 in the second round of the Discover Ross competition.
Prizes and presentations will be handed to the winners at the May Fayre in Ross on May 25.
To nominate someone, email discoverrossuk@gmail.com or write to Mr Norman at Suite 3, Penn House, Broad Street, Hereford, HR4 9AP.
