THE Old Chapel in Ross-on-Wye could once again be used for marriages.

Councillor David Ravenscroft will put forward a motion to other town councillors at a meeting on Monday to start using the building again in Cantilupe Road.

He believes this could come about as a result of an asset transfer between Herefordshire Council and Ross Town Council.

He is also hopeful that secular funerals could also take place at the chapel.

Cllr Ravenscroft added: "A licence has been issued by Herefordshire Council to the town council as an interim arrangement until the transfer of the asset can take place.

"This means that we can start the process of bringing back into public use."

Town councillors will be asked to agree room charges of £150 per ceremony and £50 per hour for other events and request the policy and management committee to draw up a lettings policy to include ancillary fees to be agreed by the full council.
