CHILDREN at Leintwardine Primary School cooked healthy pizzas and rhubarb muffins on April 2, with the Easy Peasy Cooking Bus, thanks to funding secured by Mortimer Country Food Fair's Loving Local Food project from the Big Lottery Fund.

Headteacher Anne Brandrick said, "I am delighted that our children had this opportunity to learn about cooking in such a hands-on way. They had a super day and really enjoyed themselves."

The project aims to promote local fresh produce and to encourage children and young people to cook using locally-produced ingredients. The Leintwardine children used fresh local ingredients, learnt how to cook from scratch and about healthy eating, all things Easy Peasy's Tish Dockerty is passionate about.

Easy Peasy mobile cookery school is a CIC based in Ludlow and run by Tish Dockerty with a focus on healthy eating and cooking seasonal local vegetables within a budget. http://www.easypeasycookery.co.uk/

Mortimer Country Food Fair was founded by Carolyn Chesshire of Lower Buckton Country House, and Aardvark Books in Brampton Bryan, to promote local food and drink producers, and to raise awareness of the wealth of excellent, high-quality food providers in the Marches area.

Further Easy Peasy Lottery-funded workshops have been arranged for schools in the Mortimer Country area of Powys and North Herefordshire in the next few months, and Easy Peasy will be at this year's 7th annual Mortimer Country Food Fair on July 12, 2014, a family event held at Aardvark Books in Brampton Bryan, which will be opened by actor and broadcaster Jo Brand, and also welcomes TV chef James Strawbridge on a sustainable theme. http://www.mortimercountryfoodfair.co.uk/.
