SIXTY homes could be built on the Herefordshire-Worcestershire border.

Quercus PRF LLP has put forward a proposal to have the properties sited on land off Pixiefields in Cradley.

The outline plans state that 21 of the 60 homes will be affordable and Cradley is capable of accommodating modest housing growth for which there are no other suitable or available sites in the village.

The planning statement submitted to Herefordshire Council adds that more than 100 people attended an exhibition at Cradley Village Hall last month in which the proposal was put forward.

A total of 34 comment forms were completed, with only one person indicating that they were in favour of the development.

A total of 28 were "mixed" with the remaining five against the plans.

Concerns raised included the need for housing, access and traffic issues and the imppact it would have on the village school's capacity.

But, James Spreckley, an agent representing the applicant, said that the proposed access arrangements provide a "suitable means of pedestrian, cycle and vehicular access that exceed the relevant standards."

"Cradley as a village has the infrastructure and facilities of a main village that make it a recognised sustainable location for housing growth," said Mr Spreckley.
