PUPILS at two county primary schools have been cooking up something different in their ‘pop-up restaurants’.

Year three and four pupils at Pembridge CE Primary School last week transformed their school hall into a professional restaurant – complete with mocktail bar, local chefs and paying customers.

Pupils were in charge of planning and costing the menu, food preparation, decorating, hosting, serving,

tidying and washing up.

And year five pupils at Kington Primary school also took part in the scheme, funded by the Mid Wales Food and Land Trust, and transformed their school hall into an Italian themed restaurant, treating parents and staff to a fun-filled evening of food and entertainment.

The children also worked with chef Ian Flood to decide on a menu and prepare the food and a raffle.

“It was a fantastic way for the children to see how much hard work goes into running a restaurant, an

enterprising experience that everyone enjoyed,” said Kington’s headteacher Anne Phillips.
