Markey Builders (Gloucester) Ltd want to build 290 homes on land east of the A40 in Ross-on-Wye
Markey Builders (Gloucester) Ltd want the huge development - of which 35 per cent will be affordable homes - on land east of the A40, near the Ross Spur Services roundabout.
The scheme also includes access, which will be off a new roundabout currently being constructed by Persimmon Homes near Tanyard Lane, and public open space.
However, at this stage, the developers are only seeking outline planning permission, with all matters reserved, except for access.
The Hereford Times first reported about the plans last September, which included two public exhibitions organised by Hunter Page Planners, on behalf of the applicant.
Out of a total of 62 forms that were filled in, 56 per cent of people said that they were in favour of the proposal, stating that it was more appropriate than any other proposed site and it was within walking distance of the town centre and other facilities.
The developers also say that it has addressed concerns about the increase of traffic that the scheme would bring and has given greater consideration to pedestrian connectivity.
The number of car park spaces have not yet been finalised, although it is proposed that around 435 will be set aside.
