MARATHON man Mike Chandler aims to hit the £250,000 mark in his fundraising efforts when the Hereford postman completes the his 14th London Marathon in April.
A long-time fundraiser for breast cancer support, Mike lost his mother at an early age to the disease.
Since then he has literally crossed the country – running 150 miles to London, pushing his post trolley, BEFORE completing the 2012 Marathon – to raise money for The Haven, a national breast cancer support charity that has a base in Hereford.
Mike said: “When my mother died at just 38 the NHS was great but there was no other support for her or us as a family.
“The Haven offers vital support and expert information, counselling and therapies, something I wish had been available when my mother was diagnosed.”
The 57-year-old postie will be featuring on BBC Sport as part of their London Marathon coverage, and next week a film crew will be following Mike around his route before sitting down and interviewing him at Hereford Haven.
