PUPILS at a Hereford school learnt about steam engines and water pumps during a lesson at the city's Waterworks Museum.
The youngsters from Lord Scudamore Academy investigated pushes and pulls and how water pumps have developed over times.
The visit was organised by Welsh Water as part of National Science and Engineering Week.
"It was a great opportunity for children to investigate how water is pumped and how technology has developed over time," said Sharon Phillips, peripatetic education officer at Welsh Water.
"The tour of the museum was very beneficial to the children as the guides were able to explain the importance of the water in the River Wye For Hereford and its uses in the steam age."
Ellie Brown, a teacher at Lord Scudamore Academy, added that the pupils enjoyed the lessons, including finding out about pushes and pulls.
