THE Sun’s motoring editor, caught speeding around the county, had to take a speed awareness course at Ledbury to avoid picking up points on his license.
Ken Gibson, who test-drives some of the world’s fastest cars in exotic locations around the globe, was clocked doing 35mph in a 30mph zone in Ross-on-Wye.
And, to keep his license clean, the driving guru was forced to spend an afternoon in the slow lane.
“If I’m honest, I was not looking forward to more than four hours sitting in a classroom being reminded I was a speeder,” he told his 2 million-plus readers in his column.
“I think I drive fairly sensibly and I don’t think many there were thinking of it being a valuable safety initiative experience.
“But it is 40 years since I sat my driving test and I’m happy to concede that I learned more than I thought I would.”
And the vocal anti-pothole campaigner – whose speed was apparently unaffected by the county’s often pock-marked streets – found himself rehabilitated after the TTC Group’s hard-hitting PowerPoint presentation.
He said: “It is easy to say stop speeding but not quite as easy to achieve this in the hustle and bustle of life.
“After seeing some slides this made total sense.”
