POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an assault in Hereford last month that left an 18-year-old man lying in the street unconscious.

The man was punched and kicked several times in the head and stomach by two other men in Villa Street, Hunderton.

Members of the public stopped to help him before paramedics arrived.

The victim was taken to the A&E department of Hereford County Hospital for further treatment.

"This was a really nasty assault on this young man who was knocked out and left unconscious in the street," said PC Leah McCarthy.

"There were a number of people in the area at the time, including those who stopped to help him and a taxi driver who was originally about to pick up the two men before the assault."
