Knighton and District Rotary Club

LAST month was another enjoyable one with regular meetings and a couple of fundraisers.

It started off with the first meeting of the month at the Baron in Bucknell when magistrate Carolyn Reader recounted her experiences on the bench.

In the middle of the month Rotarians Martin Holberrow and Margaret Leach held a frugal lunch at their home in Knighton to raise £190 for Rotary’s polio eradication programme.

Rotary clubs across the world have played a large part in reducing the incidence of polio worldwide by 99 per cent, hand in hand with organisations such as the WHO and the Bill Gates Foundation.

And at the end of the month Rotarians raised £110 for local charities with a supper and quiz evening at the Baron.

It was a rewarding month and, as always, thanks were given to those who made it possible to donate money to organisations and charities.

All the money raised goes to the group’s chosen charities, as running costs are covered by club membership. Find out more about us at Knighton Rotary, www.knighton.rotary1150.org.

If you want to enjoy the company of like-minded people, as well as possibly get involved in what they do, go along to any of our Wednesday meetings. For more details contact us Norman Thorp on 01547 529666 or Cathy Jones on 07813 733240 email cathleenj2001@ yahoo.co.uk.
