CYCLISTS have been told to keep it on the road after two crashes over the last fortnight left a pensioner and a Leominster schoolgirl with minor injuries.

Police issued a reminder that the law states unless there is a dedicated cycleway, bike users should ride on the road.

“Pavements are for pedestrians – not cyclists,” said PC Emma Rudgard-James.

She added that cyclists should dismount to cross zebra and pelican crossings, use front and rear lights at night and wear fluorescent or light-coloured clothing.

PC Rudgard-James said: “The Highway Code clearly states how the law applies to cyclists and if people are not sure they can buy a copy or look it up online.”
