A ‘FOREST school’ near Ledbury has been nominated for an architectural award for its “inspirational” new building.
Designed to give classrooms panoramic views of the countryside, Ashperton Primary Academy’s headteacher Chris Bandfield said the building reflects the school’s links with the outdoors.
The brainchild of Kington-based firm Warren Benbow Architects, the extension was built by Hereford contractors William Powell and Sons last year and has now been nominated for the Royal Institute of British Architects West Midlands award.
“I’m delighted it’s has been shortlisted,” said Mr Bandfield.
"The building is absolutely brilliant, it’s inspirational - as we've got a forest school, we’re keen to educate children outside.
“To win would be fantastic. I really do think we deserve it because of all the work that's gone into it."
