PLANS to build nine houses in Credenhill have been approved by Herefordshire Council's planning committee.

Stansgate Planning wants the nine homes to go on land adjacent to Cross Farm.

Having been previously deferred, the plans now included an agreement from the applicant to deliver a bus lay-by to the north side of the A480 - expected to cost around £62,000.

Ward councillor Bob Matthews said the lay-by had been needed for a long time and urged councillors to approve the application.

Credenhill's parish council raised concerns about road safety in the area - with claims that motorists often do not comply with the 30 mile-per-hour speed limit and vehicles pulling out of the development could increase the accident rate in the area.

Councillors asked that, should the bus stop not be achievable within five years, funds should be used for other local improvements.

The application was unanimously approved.
