MEMBERS of Felindre, Stowe and Stanage, Llangunllo, Llanfair Waterdine, Whitton and Tref-y-Clawdd WI went to an event at the church hall Knighton to promote the local WIs, tell guests more about the organisation and to recruit new members.

The event was part of the celebrations to mark 100 years of the Brownies. After arriving at the hall on Friday the girls made their beds, were welcomed by leader Maureen Kiff and her team and then decorated cakes and made pizzas.

Later they made salad, laid the table, had dinner, and then played a feely game and had some fun based on a Valentines theme. The evening finished with hot chocolate, a camp fire, teddy parade and then bed.

On the Saturday morning the day started with breakfast and then later they did a series of activities relevant to four world guiding centres.

One in India, Mexico, Switzerland and the UK. The last activity was to do with the UK guiding centre Pax Lodge in London when one of the girls dressed as the Queen and then they all went outside and planted a special Oak tree to commemorate the Brownie centenary 2014.
