WRITERS and poets of all ages are invited to put pen to paper in a competition as part of this year's Leominster Festival.

The theme celebrates 30 years of Leominster Festival and contestants can either write up to 1,500 words of prose with the theme of "30" or write a 30-word poem on any topic.

There are three age groups for both classes – under 11 (primary), 11-16 (secondary) and over 16s with the closing date set as April 21.

The shortlist for each age group and category will be announced at the start of the festival on May 31 and these entries will be put on display in the town.

All shortlisted entrants will be invited to the festival awards ceremony where Phil Rickman – author of the Merrily Watkins series – will present certificates and a £25 prize to each winner at 6pm on Friday June 6 at Grange Court.

Rules and entry forms are available from Leominster Library and Leominster Tourist Information Centre (TIC) or direct from the organiser, Peter Ellis by emailing peter.ellis.200@btinternet.com
