A MARCH is to take place in Hereford to highlight climate change.

People are asked to meet at the Leisure Pool at 11.30am on Saturday, March 8 and bring placards to fight the cause.

The group will then make their way to High Town.

The march is the culmination of a week long list of events taking place in the county next week to mark national Climate Week.

A display will be held all week from Monday at All Saints Church in Hereford where people can read all about climate change and you can also write down your thoughts in a book.

Richard Priestley and Michael Goodfellow-Smith will be speaking at a Concern Universal public meeting at the city's St John's Methodist Church from 7pm and 9pm on Tuesday where local and global climate issues will be addressed.

The Steiner Academy in Much Dewchurch will be showing a screening of the film The Truth about the Dash for Gas on Wednesday at 7.3pm, while the Oxford Arms in Kington will show Chasing Ice, a documentary about nature photographer James Balog, at 8pm next Thursday (March 6).

"Since it is a fact that 97% of international climate scientists tell us from their researches that climate change is real and caused by human-generated carbon emissions, many Herefordians believe that this is an issue our society can no longer afford to neglect," said Wendy Harvey, from Climate Action Now.

"If you are one of those who is concerned, but doesn't know how to make your views heard, you can join in the climate conversation and climate week events."
