SHOPPERS in Hereford on Saturday will be serenaded by choristers taking part in a fund-raising event.

The Got 2 Sing community choir will entertain passers-by in High Town at noon and 2pm in a bid to raise £200 for the British Lung Foundation.

The choir of around 30 singers will perform well-known songs such as Amazing Grace and Ain't No Mountain High Enough.

Choir leader, Beth Hippard, said: "With lung disease having touched my family, we have found that the British Lung Foundation provides an invaluable resource for people living with what can be a limiting and often incurable lung disease.

"My mom suffers from a little known lung disease called idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. The British Lung Foundation are trying to raise its awareness and we hope our singing will help raise some much appreciated funds to assist them.

"Some people with a lung condition find that singing is helpful for breathing and their general well-being. You don’t need a lot of breath and can build your stamina through vocal exercises and songs."
