THERE has been more athletic success at John Kyrle High School. The school was well represented in the District Cross Country Trials, held at St Mary’s RC High School – an event where 45 John Kyrle athletes of all ages were trialing for a place in the district team.
Briony Bishop finished first in the junior girls’ race, followed closely behind by Bethan, who came third. In the minors’ events for year seven athletes, James Blackwell finished with a silver medal despite sustaining a knee injury.
Maisie Tucker and Otto Mendlesson both finished in fourth place. In the junior boys’ race, Sam Johnson and Cameron Terry fought hard to finish within the top ten, both qualifying for the district squad. Holly Clark and Harriet Andrews will also represent the intermediate girls at the finals in February with Arthur Godden and Connor Creed in the senior boys squad.
