CLOSE to 150 guests enjoyed a lively Black and Burns Night supper and reels party at The Haywain, Lyde Arundel, Nr Hereford, in aid of St Michael’s Hospice Redevelopment Appeal.
In total the event raised over £8,500 for the hospice and a wonderful evening was enjoyed by all.
The evening started with a delicious haggis supper provided by A2Zest Catering, with sword wielding master of ceremonies, Ronnie Wilkie performing a very entertaining address to the haggis. After The Immortal Memory and Toast to Robbie Burns, there was an amusing Address to The Lassies by James Greenfield, followed by an even more amusing Reply from The Lassies by Karen Malim.
The raffle and auction was then conducted by well known local auctioneer and chairman of St Michael’s trustees, Alister Walshe. The auction alone raised more than £4,000.
Energetic Scottish reels were then danced to the wonderful music of George Buchanan’s Band.
The event was sponsored by The Haywain, Claridge Nursing Homes, The Shack Revolution, Chase Distillery, A2Zest Events, Hampton Hire Ltd and Impact Print and Design.
