A ROSS-on-Wye councillor has set up a fan page to show his appreciation for an Environment Agency manager who "does far more than is expected."

Dave Throup regularly provides flood updates in Herefordshire and Worcestershire as part of his job for the Environment Agency.

Councillor Andrew Atkinson, ward member for Ross-on-Wye East, said that he wanted to do something to say thank you.

He therefore decided to set up a "Dave Throup Fan Club" account on Twitter, which has so far attracted more than 1,000 followers.

"He is doing a phenomenal job and us councillors will be completely lost without him telling us how the river is doing," said Coun Atkinson.

"The page is a celebration of a job and a man who does so much.

"We should all thank the members of the Environment Agency on the ground who are doing a fantastic job."
